Reverend Kevin L. Nesmith

Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church

The Reverend Kevin L. Nesmith is an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church and serves as the Pastor of St. Thomas Chapel A. M. E. Church in Alto, Texas. A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Pastor Nesmith is a graduate of South Carolina State University (Bachelor of Science - Accounting), Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University (Master of Divinity), and the University of North Texas (Master of Education in Counseling).

Education and Service

Devoted to “giving back what has freely been given to him,” Rev. Kevin has been deliberate about serving in organizations that meet the vital needs of the community. He has served as the Dolphin Heights Neighborhood Association Chaplain in Dallas. He is a mentor with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of North Texas and a mentor with Project Alpha, the mentorship program of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated®, of which he is a proud member.  Rev. Nesmith has also served as a volunteer with the National Alliance for Mental Illness (N.A.M.I), the Association of Persons Affected by Addiction (A.A.P.A), and a facilitator for community outreach organizations in Charleston, South Carolina, Houston, and Dallas for more than 30 years. Pastor Nesmith has also served as an educator in public schools in Houston, Dallas, Waxahachie, and Palestine.

Personal Life

Rev. Nesmith is married to RaFaye Lewis Nesmith, a Zion Chapel AME Church, Natchez, MS daughter.

Lady RaFaye Lewis Nesmith

RaFaye Lewis Nesmith is a native of Natchez, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Robert and Theresa Davis Lewis, lifelong A.M.E.’s and members of Zion Chapel Station in the Natchez/Port Gibson District of the Mississippi Conference (8th Episcopal District). Lady RaFaye accepted Christ at an early age at Zion Chapel and served the church as a Sunday school pianist, youth choir member, and YPD’er.

Education and Career

Lady Nesmith is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe (Formerly Northeast Louisiana University), a retiree of AT&T,, employed for 38 years, and a Silver member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®.

Religious Service

RaFaye Lewis Nesmith was appointed as President of the Tenth Episcopal District Connectional Ministers' Spouses, Widows and Widowers Organization Plus PK's, by Bishop Vashti McKenzie and Supervisor Dr. Stan McKenzie and the Tenth Episcopal District 2017 Planning meeting. Lady Nesmith is married to The Reverend Kevin L. Nesmith, a lifelong A.M.E. and the proud pastor of St. Thomas Chapel A.M.E. in Alto, TX.
