STATIONS OF THE CROSS
MEDIATION
The following are meditation points for you to pause, reflect on the story of Christ's crucifixion and resurrection, and pray for his strength to increase in you. Christ endured much on his way to Calvary for our sake. What he endured should remind us that if he suffered, we should not be discouraged by our temporary suffering. Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ! He will see you through! He rose from the grave so that you can rise above any adverse situation that comes your way.
#1: The Last Supper - Matthew 26-26-30
26 While they were eating, Jesus took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to the disciples, and said, ‘Take, eat; this is my body.’

27 Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you;

28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
29 I tell you, I will never again drink of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.’

#2: The Garden of Gethsemane- Matthew 26-36-41
36 Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane; and he said to his disciples, ‘Sit here while I go over there and pray.’
37 He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be grieved and agitated.
38 Then he said to them, ‘I am deeply grieved, even to death; remain here, and stay awake with me.’
39 And going a little farther, he threw himself on the ground and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not what I want but what you want.’
40 Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping; and he said to Peter, ‘So, could you not stay awake with me one hour?
41 Stay awake and pray that you may not come into the time of trial;[a] the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.’
#3: Jesus Before Pilot - Mark 15:1-5
15 As soon as it was morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council. They bound Jesus, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate.
2 Pilate asked him, ‘Are you the King of the Jews?’ He answered him, ‘You say so.’
3 Then the chief priests accused him of many things.
4 Pilate asked him again, ‘Have you no answer? See how many charges they bring against you.’
5 But Jesus made no further reply, so that Pilate was amazed.

#4: The Flogging and Mocking - Mark 15:15-20
15 So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released Barabbas for them; and after flogging Jesus, he handed him over to be crucified.

16 Then the soldiers led him into the courtyard of the palace (that is, the governor’s headquarters[a]); and they called together the whole cohort.

17 And they clothed him in a purple cloak; and after twisting some thorns into a crown, they put it on him.
18 And they began saluting him, ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’
19 They struck his head with a reed, spat upon him, and knelt down in homage to him.

20 After mocking him, they stripped him of the purple cloak and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him.
#5: Carrying The Cross - John 19:14-17
14 Now it was the day of Preparation for the Passover; and it was about noon. He said to the Jews, ‘Here is your King!’
15 They cried out, ‘Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!’ Pilate asked them, ‘Shall I crucify your King?’ The chief priests answered, ‘We have no king but the emperor.’
16 Then he handed him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus;
17 and carrying the cross by himself, he went out to what is called The Place of the Skull, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha.

#6: Simon of Cyrene - Matthew 15:21-22
21 Jesus left that place and went away to the district of Tyre and Sidon.
22 Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting, ‘Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon.’
#7: The Women Weep - Luke 23:27-31
27 A great number of the people followed him, and among them were women who were beating their breasts and wailing for him.
28 But Jesus turned to them and said, ‘Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
29 For the days are surely coming when they will say, “Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed.”
30 Then they will begin to say to the mountains, “Fall on us”; and to the hills, “Cover us.”
31 For if they do this when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?’

#8: They Gambled for His Garments - John 19:23-24
23 When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his clothes and divided them into four parts, one for each soldier. They also took his tunic; now the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from the top.
24 So they said to one another, ‘Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to see who will get it.’ This was to fulfil what the scripture says, ‘They divided my clothes among themselves, and for my clothing they cast lots.’
#9: Between Two Thieves - John 23:39-43
39 One of the criminals who were hanged there kept deriding[a] him and saying, ‘Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us!’
40 But the other rebuked him, saying, ‘Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?
41 And we indeed have been condemned justly, for we are getting what we deserve for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong.’
42 Then he said, ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.’
43 He replied, ‘Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.’

#10: A Mother and Son - John 19:25b-27
25 ...Meanwhile, standing near the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, here is your son.’
27 Then he said to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother.’ And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home.
#11: The Death of Jesus - Mark 15:33-39
33 When it was noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon.
34 At three o’clock Jesus cried out with a loud voice, ‘Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?’ which means, ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’
35 When some of the bystanders heard it, they said, ‘Listen, he is calling for Elijah.’
36 And someone ran, filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a stick, and gave it to him to drink, saying, ‘Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to take him down.’
37 Then Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last.
38 And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.
39 Now when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, ‘Truly this man was God’s Son!’

#12: The Burial - Mark 27:57-61
57 When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who was also a disciple of Jesus.
58 He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus; then Pilate ordered it to be given to him.
59 So Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth
60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn in the rock. He then rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb and went away.
61 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were there, sitting opposite the tomb.
#13: The Resurrection - Matthew 28:1-7
1 After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.

2 And suddenly there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord, descending from heaven, came and rolled back the stone and sat on it.
3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow.
4 For fear of him the guards shook and became like dead men.
5 But the angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.
6 He is not here; for he has been raised, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay.
7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples, “He has been raised from the dead, and indeed he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him.” This is my message for you.’
